Nuprecon LP, the leading full service demolition contractor in the Pacific Northwest, is pleased to announce that Senior Vice President Dave Whitley has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, Mr. Whitley oversees Nuprecon’s eight operating divisions, which include five services divisions and three offices located in Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii, as well as companywide safety. Service divisions consist of Demolition, Environmental Waste Resources, NuTech, NuSite, and ReNu.
Mr. Whitley’s tenure with Nuprecon began in 2001, when he joined the company to launch its ReNu recycling service division. Under his leadership, ReNu has grown each year and now represents the largest C&D recycling service business in Washington. With the success of ReNu came additional leadership opportunities. “Dave’s attention to detail, results-driven philosophy, and superb business acumen made his appointment to Chief Operating Offices merely a matter of time,” commented John Hennessy, President. “Dave has played an integral role in Nuprecon’s steady growth over the past 7 years, and he will be a critical part of our success moving forward,” added Mr. Hennessy.
Prior to joining Nuprecon, Mr. Whitley’s experience includes executive positions with both Stillen Inc. and Prestige Products Corporation. Mr. Whitley holds a degree in Building Construction Technology and Surveying from Willesden College in London, England. He serves on the King County Solid Waste Advisory Commission and recently served on the National Demolition Association Board of Directors.

Two of the nation's largest demolition contractors, Snoqualmie, Wash.-based Nuprecon, and Brea, Calif.-based CST Environmental have joined forces to form the nation's second largest full service demolition company. The transaction was facilitated through Nuprecon's majority owner, Seattle-based Evergreen Pacific Partners, a $275 million private equity fund based in the Pacific Northwest investing in private, traditional industry, middle-market companies in Western North America. The combined Nuprecon/CST entity has over 1,000 employees and a strong national presence. John Hennessy and Sage Khara, the founders of Nuprecon and CST respectively, both remain significant owners of the combined companies and will serve as President of each respective organization.
Founded in 1986 as a demolition specialist, Nuprecon has added a number of other specialty services over the years designed to streamline the process of full site preparation and construction. In addition to its core demolition services, Nuprecon offers concrete sawing and drilling services, abatement and remediation as well as C&D material recycling solutions (ReNu Recycling Services).
Founded in 1988 CST Environmental has completed several thousand demolition and environmental remediation projects and has extensive experience ranging from large industrial facilities, steel plants, refineries, and power plants to multi-floor commercial buildings, shopping centers and military bases. With offices in California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas, CST complements Nuprecon's market dominance in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.

Nuprecon focuses on very technical demolition jobs such as Nordstrom headquarters in Seattle, the Pentagon and the Los Angeles International Airport terminal. CST focuses on total building removal. This complementary scope focus creates a single entity with a diverse range of turnkey services, as well as strong insurance and bonding capabilities with a national footprint.

"By combining the two companies, as well as with the access to capital from Evergreen Pacific Partners, we are well positioned to continue to provide the highest quality results, as well as grow the business."
The senior management teams from both companies remain in place and continue to own significant percentages of the company. John Hennessy will serve as President of Nuprecon and Sage Khara will serve as President of CST. The combined companies will focus on delivering a superior outcome to existing customers as well as expanding their customer base across the country.
This is the sixth transaction from Evergreen Pacific Partners private equity fund. In addition to equity from Evergreen Pacific, debt financing was led by Banc of America Capital Solutions, Prudential Capital Group and Prudential Capital Partners. Houlihan Lokey, an international investment bank, provided advisory services.

Nuprecon's EMR is the 9th lowest of over 31,000 contractors in the state of Washington, and represents the lowest rating achieved by any demolition company in the state.
Nutech, the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Division of Nuprecon, was featured on the March 2007 cover of the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association's Concrete Openings Magazine. Nuprecon was honored to receive the prestigious Eagle of Excellence Award from Associated Builders & Contractors of Western Washington. This award was given in recognition of their work in the Johnston Atoll project in 2004. The project took place on an isolated atoll located approximately 800 miles southwest of Honolulu, HI, and called for the abatement of asbestos and lead materials in addition to the demolition and removal of over 200 buildings, ranging from sheds to concrete dormitories and bunkers, and totaled nearly 1 million square feet. Johnston Island, a former Air Force base and chemical weapons disposal facility, was being decommissioned and returned to its natural state as a wildlife preserve.
The task of getting all of the equipment, supplies and staff to the island involved a mammoth effort and took a month to complete. Because of the logistics challenges and lag time in getting equipment and supplies to the island, it was critical to have redundancy in equipment, spares and supplies. Disposing of the waste from nearly 1 million square feet of buildings was another challenge. RCI excavated an onsite landfill for most demolition materials. Metal and hazardous materials were barged to recycling and disposal sites on the mainland.
